Pavao Mašić
Pavao Mašić, winner of the Grand Prix Bach at the 2006 Bach Organ Competition in Lausanne, studied music in Zagreb, Lausanne & Freiburg im Breisgau.
As the Titular Organist of St. Mark's Church in Zagreb he is continuing a rich tradition of organists in that historic church, continuously recorded since 1359.
He is Full Professor at the University of Zagreb, and is regularly giving concerts in South America, Europe, Russia and Israel, with the quality of his work being recognized by many renowned Croatian and international awards, including the prizes of international organ competitions in Lausanne, Pula and Zaragoza.
His projects include performances of Bach's Six Partitas, Seven Toccatas, Goldberg Variations and The Art of Fugue, Messiaen's La Nativité du Seigneur and L’Ascension, performances of complete organ works by Bach, Franck and Buxtehude (all three in collaboration with organist Ante Knešaurek), organ concertos by Francis Poulenc, Ante Knešaurek, Stjepan Šulek and Silvio Foretić.
The artist records for Croatian Radiotelevision and Croatia Records; his discography includes six solo albums that have been awarded with twelve Croatian National Music Awards. Two albums, 1685: Bach, Handel, Scarlatti and Bach: The Art of Fugue won prestigious title of The Best Classical Music Album.
Pavao Mašić published a new score edition of complete organ works of two important Croatian organ composers, Anđelko Klobučar and Franjo Dugan, both active in the 20th century as titular organists of Zagreb Cathedral.
